Africa Women Justice Hub

The Africa Women Justice Hub is a Kenyan NGO focused on promoting good governance, human rights, and societal welfare through policy development, advocacy, sports therapy, community awareness, psychosocial support, and access to justice for women, girls, and people living with HIV.

About Africa Women Justice Hub

The Africa Women Justice Hub is a Kenyan non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting good governance, human rights, and enhancing the welfare of society. The organization achieves these mandates through various initiatives, including policy development, advocacy, utilizing sports as therapy, raising community awareness, providing psychosocial support, and facilitating access to justice for women, girls, and individuals living with HIV.

Thematic Areas:

**Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response**

Sexual and gender-based violence is a pervasive issue in Kenya. The Africa Women Justice Hub works to improve access to justice for survivors of such violence and provides essential psychosocial support. Additionally, the organization employs campaigns to hold duty bearers accountable and urge action against perpetrators of sexual and gender-based violence.

Inclusive Governance

A significant challenge in development, leadership, and governance is ensuring the inclusion of all individuals in decision-making processes. While men dominate key decision-making bodies, including political systems, women, youth, and persons with disabilities remain underrepresented. The organization advocates for the active participation of these marginalized groups in development processes to foster a culture of inclusive governance.

Livelihoods and Socio-Economic Empowerment

Vulnerable populations face substantial barriers in economic, social, and political spheres due to illness or disability. The Africa Women Justice Hub promotes improved livelihoods for these communities through tailored skills training based on local needs and by raising awareness about the importance of social safety nets and savings. These efforts are designed to protect families from economic shocks, particularly those faced by vulnerable and marginalized groups.

Legal Aid

Access to legal aid is crucial for indigent individuals whose rights have been violated. The Africa Women Justice Hub provides legal assistance to vulnerable women, girls, and people living with HIV/AIDS to help them attain justice. The organization collaborates with like-minded institutions and pro bono advocates to facilitate strategic litigation and refer cases as needed.

Mental Health Awareness

Mental illness remains stigmatized in Kenya, preventing many individuals from recognizing or seeking help for their mental health issues. Current statistics highlight the urgent need for intervention. The Africa Women Justice Hub aims to raise awareness about mental health within communities and advocate for policies that support mental health care. The organization promotes healthy living and well-being among its target populations through sports as therapy.
